Improve Customer Experience With Landscape Architecture

When you are designing a new office or other commercial building, your main focus is probably on the inside of the building, right? That’s where your employees and customers are going to be spending the majority of their time, so it makes sense to put a lot of time and care into the interior architecture and design.

While you’re focusing on that, however, just be sure you don’t miss the forest for the trees! The architecture of the physical building, while hugely important, is not the only thing your customers will be paying attention to. The exterior of your building, and the area around your building, are extremely important too.

This is where landscape architecture comes in.

What is Landscape Architecture?

When you hear the term “landscape architecture” you may have automatically thought about “landscaping” - you know, mowing lawns, trimming hedges, that kind of work. As Troy Anderson (our Landscape Architect here at Trio Design) likes to put it, his job has less to do with those things, and a LOT more to do with the functionality and feeling of the environment.

Think about your favorite park, or the outdoor dining area at your favorite restaurant. Each of those places probably evokes a different feeling for you, and that’s no coincidence! A Landscape Architect is skilled at intentionally creating unique environments with a desired feeling in mind.

Landscape Architects Help Improve Customer Experience

If you own a business, you want your customers to have the best possible experience from the moment they pull up and park the car! This is what a Landscape Architect can help you with.

Does the location of your parking lot make sense for those who need to access your building? Does the size make sense for the number of people who will be coming in and out of your building throughout the day? Is the site your building sits on level, and are there any water or irrigation issues?

These are a few of the questions a Landscape Architect will ask themselves as they begin working on your project. Having these things in mind helps them design the area to create the best possible experience for anyone who will be entering your building.
